Growing up in a small town, Davis was a familiar fixture at the local theater along with his operatic and spritely mother. After unintentionally crying on-stage while wearing an ill-fitting Mock-Turtle outfit, 8-year-old Davis decided that he was better suited behind-the-scenes.
Cut to: American Film Institute, where Davis (completing his Master’s Degree), met the love of his life and the intrepid mother of his two three exuberant boys – who at the time of this writing have not yet maimed each other.
Davis works primarily as a Cinematographer or Director for TV, Film, Shorts, Commercials, Promos, Documentary, Reality, Music Videos and the like, and has worked in various capacities on nearly 50 films. His feature film credits include: Casting Assistant, Production Assistant, Art Director, Propmaster, Assistant Propmaster, On-Set Scenic Painter, On-Set Dresser, Boom Operator, Sound Mixer, Gaffer, Electric, Camera Assistant, Camera Operator, Editor, Second Unit Director and Director of Photography – which clearly demonstrates either a lack of focus or a dogged approach to filmmaking. If one were curious, a partial list of Davis’ credits reside at IMDB.com under the name Matthew W. Davis – which is the moniker Davis frequently uses, as it is his name.
Mr. Safadi was born in a small town on Mount Hermon – Golan Heights on the Syrian – Lebanese border and raised in America. He grew up between San Francisco and Los Angeles where he attended the prestigious USC-Cinema School. Immediately after graduating, he joined United Talent Agency where he worked as an assistant through the assistant trainee program. He was recruited by a small distribution boutique where he learned about international sales and distribution.
They financed his attendance to Sundance and The Cannes International Film Festival/Market.
Mr. Safadi has served as 2nd AD, 1st AD, Associate Producer, Line Producer and Producer on independently financed films in the lower budget range where he gained extensive experience adapting screenplays for the lower budget spectrum. He gained critical acclaim for his credit as co-writer for his screenplay, Sarah and Sameer, at the New York IIFV Festival winning an award for Best Screenplay.
Subsequently a film fund hired Mr. Safadi as a consultant to evaluate independent features, the submitted screenplay, budget, production plan and distribution prospects in order to get the green light for financing.
After accumulating some residual wealth from his success in his prior consulting, he invested in an indie film studio which housed editorial, sound recording, music re-recording, ADR, and international distribution services. He decided to close the film services in 2008 due to the market downturn, and has now decided to re-emerge onto the independent scene with YouPix.org Born out of his passion for indie cinema and many years of experience in film funding, production and distribution, Mr. Safadi wants to support you in bringing your screenplay to the big screen.
